This is an excellent tool to help understand the Bible. Each verse or set of verses has an explanation underneath to further help you understand.

For the last 3 years I have ordered Concordia Self Study Bibles for my Confirmation Students. This New International Version Bible is a great teaching tool, both for Christian Theology and the way it is layed out. The 35,000 entry Concordance at the back of the Bible is great for finding passages, and the explanations of individual passages at the bottom of each page does a great job of enhancing the readers understanding.

This is a great Bible, and essential I think for all Lutheran/ Christian laypeople.
The Bible however is just the NIV study Bible (excellent) adjusted for Lutherans (some of the study notes and introductions have been edited, with a "dagger" showing where the Lutheran emphasis starts.
A new study Bible, with notes written exclusively by Lutheran Scholars, and using the ESV text, is due in 2009. Check with Concordia Publishing House ( www.cph.org) for more info.

I am not a Christian, but I trying to understand more about bible and god. It is really helps me a lot by reading this book. The notes and explanation are clearly stated.
A great guide to spirtual healing! July 18, 2007
This is a great bible, It has all the features you would want in a bible. It included background information and speculation from spirtual leaders on what the meaning is to certain parables and stories. It was put together really well and it helps guide my wife and I to the story of Father, Son, and holy spirit. Remeber, God is love!
