Product Description If iMac, you can, too. Yes, using an iMac is simple. After you power up your very own piece of iCandy, you can quickly pick up on the basics with this ...For Dummies Quick Reference. You find that "navigating" means pointing your mouse's arrow and clicking, and that electronic file folders aren't really much different than the manila kind you used to put in a file cabinet. Soon, you'll be able to arrange your screen's desktop the way you want, set up files and print them, and move in and out of windows and software applications. Find out how to select files from a CD-ROM and use the Internet. And after you're comfortable with the basics, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing are all can-do-able with AppleWorks. The shortcut key commands listed in the last chapter, as any seasoned Mac user will tell you, are indispensable.

iMac for Dummies Quick Reference March 8, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This quick reference was recommended with my purchase of iMac for Dummies operating system 10. Unfortunately it is a reference for system 9 and Appleworks, which is not included in the new iMac. I felt it should have not been recommended by Amazon as it is outdated.

I have a new iMac. However, this book is for older Macs. It does have some useful information though.
This book is virtually useless. December 9, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought a new iMac in November 2006. I found this book obsolete and outdated.
A good guide for beginning Imac users December 4, 2000 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
The Imac for Dummies by Jennifer Watson is a very useful guide for amature Imac users. The insturctions are so easy to follow that even those intimidated by computers are encouraged when techniques are easily applied. This quick reference covers a wide range of topics. From basic instruction on desk top/home base use, mastering files, and discs, to connecting to the Internet, sending and receiving faxes and e-mails, and editing videos and exporting movies. It also includes a handy glossary of key terms. I gave this book a five star rating because it fullfilled my needs as a beginning Imac user. It's a great guide for students of various ages. A wonderful supplement to technology curriculum. Personally, it helped me as I'm presently taking a fast pased computer-based education course. I use this book intermitently when I work on my own, at my own speed. I get quick, easy answers to questions I have about the Imac. This is a great start up book for those, who like myself, are new to the Imac. Once you feel comfortable with the Imac, this books serves as an excellent reference guide. I was able to help my boyfriend send a fax with his Imac. The book is small, easy to carry, and competitively priced. I highly recommend it.
