1 out of 5 stars fun to make; not at all healthy for your pet   November 10, 2008
As other reviewers noted, while your dog may enjoy the treats--they aren't all dog-friendly ingredients health-wise. I've studied animal nutrition at length and their are ingredients that are actually harmful to pets; but tasty nonetheless.
Cornmeal, for example, is a common allergen. There are also endless items that have additives and preservatives that your pet should never have to stomach.
Personally, I would suggest pampering your pooch with Dr. Pitcairn's Health for Dogs and Cats. This has been my "pet food bible" as well as learning how to cure some things naturally. My Pomeranian went from coarse, unshiny fur to glossy "cat-fur" after I began this regimen and that is what got me into my own personal study of animal health and nutrition. I urge you to pamper your pets and go natural and healthy if you really want to show love...Dr. Pitcairn's New Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats p.s. I have no tie in anyway to Dr. Pitcairn...just a raving fan of how he helped my babies!!

2 out of 5 stars Ok- but not from scratch   September 23, 2008
This has a lot of good doggy treats, but it uses a lot of canned products (campbells soup, bisquick ect) and most recipes have cornmeal in them which is a dog allergen. Other than that it has lots of tips and lots of recipes. Just not from scratch..the semi homemade of dog cookbooks

2 out of 5 stars As previously stated....not a beginners book   May 1, 2008
5 out of 5 found this review helpful

I own a dog treat business as a part time keep me busy type venture. While this book has a lot of recipes and ideas, some are complicated and require a lot of time to be spent purchasing items that aren't otherwise in the average kitchen. While the book itself isn't horrible, being a regular dog treat/food maker, it isn't the most user friendly or beginner type book either.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite dog recipe book   January 19, 2008
I've purchaed several recipe books for my pups and used more recipes out of this book than any other. There are also helpful tips and nutritional information throughout the book. The recipes are fairly easy and my three pups have enjoyed every one I have made so far.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent!   October 1, 2007
Couldn't be more pleased with this book - it has great recipes, tips, and nutritional information on ingredients.
