Very disappointing February 7, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book turned out to be no more than a glossy re-run of the magazine. It reads more like a travel mag showing off the points of its most recent advertizers. If you are an angler, look elsewhere for real fishing tips.
All Hype January 21, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love fishing and this book could not hold my attention for more than about 2 minutes.
They spent more time in choosing the title and hype than authoring the book. Such is the modern world where adding to your revenue is more important than writing about a passion to share with the masses.
A nice place to start March 9, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you have been out on a charter fishing trip or just watched fisherman on the pier and have asked yourself, "What in the heck are they doing?" this book is for you. This book answers the most basic questions on saltwater fishing tactics. After reading this book and understanding its content, you will cover about 80% of what you need to know. The other 20% is just plain experience. This is a GREAT book for your kids who just discovered that fishing bug. Not a bad Father's Day gift for the greenhorn either.
Good, but not Great January 25, 2004 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Overall, this is a pretty good book. It covers a lot of basic as well as more advanced techniques. The information is up to date, well written, with good photos and illustrations. The only thing that can be improved is more detail on more species. The book covers about 20 specific species and everyone will find something of value. Included are inshore, surf, pier, jetties, blue water, bottom, and shallow water species. Unfortunately, each species is limited to about 3-4 pages of information. A bigger book with more information on each species would make this a great book!
Not so August 24, 2003 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Alot of hype about this book, personnaly its alot of common sense, you would better of subscribing to the magazines and gathering information from there as opposed to getting it all doucmented in one book.My advice check it out first before you purchase it.
