5 out of 5 stars Worth buying for Five Bucks   August 30, 2008

I got this for under nine bucks including shipping. Its hil-arious, fun, at times impressive and at others ridiculous (in a good way, though there were some deliscious cringe moments in the Thunderbird story) I Loved it. It ranged from hokey fun to arresting and back to silly.

4 out of 5 stars Great trip down memory lane   December 21, 2007

I'm a big fan of team-ups and Silver Age Batman. The real treat about this collection is the last half contains a lot of stories drawn by one of my favorite Batman artists, Neal Adams. I understand these are printed in black and white to save on the production costs, I still can't help wanting to see these in color.

Only buy this if you're OK with the pictures being in black-and-white.

GREAT! Okay, I've been waiting for the Showcase Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane...BUT why together??? I love both series but the two together? This has got to be the worst that DC can do to these wonderful series! What happened to the Perry White book anyhow? LOL! I'm dying to see these as well as ATOM, Hawkman, Atomic Knights, Doom Patrol, Metal Men, Teen Titans, Blackhawk and hopefully Brave and Bold!

Atom is out in June, Hawkman is out already, Atomic Knights... keep yer fingers crossed, Doom Patrol... ditto!... Metal Men ... pushing it, huh?...Teen Titans, aleady out and pushing #2!... Blackhawk, where to start on that one, not on those idiotic costumes!!!... and B&B is here!

Thanks to DC, I'm finally buying their product a lot more... reprints!
I would never buy the new junk! Total GARBAGE!

5 out of 5 stars The Caped Crusader at his best!   February 2, 2007

What's great about this book is the range of the stories. Some have a light tone reminicent of the "Batman" TV series of the sixties, (The Metamporpho team-up even MENTIONS the show) others are dark, pulpy mysteries, (the Neal Adams drawn Deadman team-ups are particularly good) No matter which interpretation of the Dark Knight you prefer, your bound to dig at least a few of these tales.

Nearly every DC Great of the silver age makes an appearance, from Green Arrow to Green Lantern, from the Metal Men to the Teen Titans,(one of Robin's few appearances in this particular book) Batman even teams with Sgt. Rock in World War II,(!) and does battle with Eclipso, a rare villain who headlined his own series. One conspicuous absince is Superman, I guess we'll just have to wait for a Showcase of "World's Finest"
