From the supplier: The government plays a central role in the development of agri-food markets. However, assessing this role for the future agri-food system raises the question of whether the agri-food sector is special or different from other sectors of the economy to warrant a specialized marketing policy. The growing trend of industrialization in the agri-food system creates more challenges for policy making. However, it has been perceived that government marketing policies in all sectors of the economy should likewise apply to the agri-food sector.
