| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description A clearly illustrated manual that shows equestrians how to prepare their horses for the unexpected, turning them into safer, more pleasurable mounts.Every horse, from the pampered show-hunter to the family pet, is faced at one time or another with an object or situation that is either overwhelmingly terrifying or just downright confusing. Riders, trainers, and owners often simply wait for these situationsand the resulting bolt, balk, or buckin fear or ignorance, rationalizing such behavior as just "a horse being a horse." With his systematic approach to "bombproofing," Sergeant Rick Pelicano of the Maryland National Capitol Park Police demonstrates how to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to training a horse, whether one is crossing a stream or riding in city traffic. Rick Pelicano is accredited by the American Riding Instructor Certification Program; in 1995, he was named Instructor of the Year. He lives in Frederick, Maryland. Misleading! December 1, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I spent several hours reading this book, and there is absolutely no information about bombproofing horses, which the title implies. Because of this, I lost my fourth Arabian this month due to horse bandits. If there had been actual info on how to keep my horses from being blown up, I would be able to recommend it highly, but obviously the author is only interested in making a quick buck off of a growing national problem.

Great for all horse lovers from beginner to advance. It was easy to read and understand. It covered everything I wanted to learn & teach to my horses. I'll be using this book all through my training on my 4 yr. old Paint gelding. Great details!
Just what I needed January 28, 2008 Though I have not had a chance to sit down and read through it all, it appears to be very informative with a lot of pictures to help along the way. It will be a very handy tool to have around.
