Amazon.com Take a lively armchair visit to some of the exceptional resort hotels throughout the United States. Along the way, host Samantha Brown experiences first-hand what makes these hotel destinations popular, appealing, unique, and memorable. Each episode presents an entertaining "story" of up to two different hotel destinations, complete with encounters and eccentricities that creatively show and tell what makes each hotel a great experience. Episode 25: Imagine lodging right in the middle of an African Wildlife Reserve, where sightings of wild exotic animals are within 30 feet of your balcony. At Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge in Florida you can "travel to the edge of civilization and into the vast wilderness" without the danger and with all the magical amenities a Disney deluxe resort has to offer. Journey with Samantha Brown to the sprawling Africa-theme hotel featuring a thatched roof-like lobby, exquisite wood carvings, original art, a high-flying indoor suspension bridge, and a three-story floor-to-ceiling window overlooking a savanna for viewing more than 200 mammals and birds. Samantha's hotel experience also includes storytelling around the Arusha Rock Fire Pit, interactions with artists in the festive African marketplace, plus fascinating discoveries, like the rare Igbo Ijele Mask. Samantha takes a sunrise safari at nearby Animal Kingdom - it's as close to the African savanna as you can get in the States. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply.

What a great Hotel November 9, 2008 Ok, so why would you buy just one episode of the old Great Hotels tv show? Well first off $9.99 does seem a bit expensive for a 22 minute dvd (especially when you consider 1 dvd from passport to europe has 7 episodes and is also $9.99) but lets get by all that and answer the question.
My wife to be and I have this particular hotel booked for our honeymoon. We have seen several disney programs on the travel channel and even have the travel planner dvd from disney, yet this dvd has more info than all those. Samantha starts by driving you up to the hotel and then she takes a tour of the main lobby, which if you have seen.... its an amazing sight to see. She then shows you what the rooms look like, and follows that with showing you what a deluxe villa looks like.
She takes you to animal kingdom and of course shows you the Savannah that surrounds the hotel.
Basically if you are going to this hotel and would like to show people what it looks like or have a keepsake of your journey without the need of a video camera.... this is the dvd for you.
I recommend spending the $10 and getting this episode. Perhaps one day they will collect the great hotels tv show but until then if you are going to the Animal Kingdom Lodge you should buy this dvd tour of the hotel.
