This was extremely helpful during my trip to Disney. I would recommend it to anyone traveling with children of all different ages.
You'll be sorry... February 16, 2000 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
if you try to go to Disney without this book. One click it now! For all Disney pilgrims and novices this is the Bible. Ms. Wiley provides witty and insightful information that you must have when traveling with children to WDW. I carried this book with me through the park and felt like I had my own personal guide cherrfully moving me along. These 480 pages are packed with practical information that is easy to access on the run or while waiting in line. The descriptions of the Disney hotels are right on target. Ms. Wiley described Dixie Landings as the place where Huck Finn and Scarlett O'Hara would honeymoon. I do believe I even saw Rhett roaming the grounds! To the author-my children and I thank you for your wonderful book. We'll buy every edition!
Clear, helpful, advice...mother to mother February 7, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My family goes to Disney World every other years so we pretty much know the ropes....but I still buy the latest version of Wiley's guide before each visit. I find her hotel evaluation to be especially helpful, since we like to stay at a different Disney hotel each time we go. She lists pluses and minuses for each hotel, as well as information on how to get to the theme parks from each hotel. Many of the other guides make it seem like all the hotels are alike (or at least equally wonderful) but Wiley helps us sort it out.
Even more excited about our upcoming trip now February 5, 2000 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have wanted to go to Walt Disney World for years and finally have the chance. I read the book cover to cover in one day. Before I read the book I did not know much about the particulars of a Disney trip, but now I am much more confident. The book gives lots of tips about what to do before you go, and what to do once you are there. It focuses on many aspects of the trip and gives good clear advice. My book is covered in highlighter and post-it notes as a result of this direct information. I wish I would have purchased this book 7 or 8 months in advance of our trip instead of 6 weeks, as it gives advice on hotel reservations and the necessity of making on-site reservations very early, to be most economical. The only drawback I found was that the maps are way too vague. I wish clear, detailed maps and entertainment schedules, or examples, were included in the book. And for the kids, a few photos would be nice. After reading the book, I regret not allowing more time for this ultimate family vacation. There is much more to Walt Disney World than I had imagined. Two thumbs up.
Well organized, readable - and funny! January 24, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'd like to go through Disney World with Kim Wright Wiley! Her book is well organized and gives just the kind of information a mother of three (me) needs, but you can also tell she is a mother herself and has really been in the situations she describes. So I trust her advice about what is worth my time and money, what ride is going to scare my 6-year-old, the best hotel, etc. A refreshing change from the usual dry travel guide.
