4 out of 5 stars Interesting facts, not really a guide   August 28, 2007
3 out of 3 found this review helpful

As a Disney World fan and regular visitor, I thought this book had interesting facts and was fun to read, but I wouldn't suggest this as a guide to someone who had never been to the parks. I think the Unofficial Guide is much better for that, but then I don't really think you should get insane about following a touring plan, either. I think you miss out on half of the fun when you are too busy following a plan from place to place and you don't stop to see what is in between. This guide has great picures, fun facts and is enjoyable to read. I actually read it on the 2 hour plane trip down to Disney. This is a good book to use as a supplement but I would not recommend it to anyone as the only guidebook that they should buy. If you really want to cover everything, buy the Official Guidebook, the Unofficial Guidebook and this book and you will be set.

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful book for reminiscing   August 9, 2007
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I purchased this book months after returning from a trip to Walt Disney World and without knowing when the next trip was. This book, more than any other guide, helped bring back all the wonderful memories and clue me in on more hidden facts about the parks. The greatest part of the book are the color photos, more are in these pages than in any other guide book, official or unofficial. This book is a must-buy if you're headed for a trip, or just want to relive the magic.

5 out of 5 stars Best mix of details and fun   August 5, 2007
This newcommer to the Disney book scene has become my favorite Disney guidebook, which is saying a lot considering the competition.

Some background: I'm a Disney veteran - I even used to help run a Disney-based Web site. I surf the Disney fan sites and message boards almost daily. I thought there was no way that any guidebook could teach me anything more that I didn't already know. Boy was I wrong.

It's not a dry encyclopedia like the Unofficial Guide, nor is it the fluff of Birnbaums or Frommers.

It's the best of all worlds. It has a ton of great full color pictures (which other Disney guides are for some reason lacking), tons of detail regarding all of the logistics (which is where you want detail)...but most of all it gives you a sense of fun and the magic of Disney World, and where to find those special experiences. That's what it's all about, isn't it?

Pros: The sense of magic and fun it enstills - it really gets you hyped for the trip! The full color photos, TONS of little trivia tidbits which even surprised me, nice level of detail on the logistics.

Slight cons: There are some very basic touring plans for the parks, but not enough to give you the "Why" behind them so you can adapt them to your needs or age group. Also, when talking about dining reservations, they continue to use the term "Priority Seating" even though Disney changed that to "Advance Dining Reservations" a couple years ago.

Highly recommended!

4 out of 5 stars Disney   August 4, 2007
I love this book b/c it has so many pictures of Disney. Overall if you need a guidebook to help you this is not the one to get there are better ones out there but if you want to see actual picutres of many things at Disney this is the one to buy.
