Great book, kids or no kids August 10, 2006 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
My wife and I are empty nesters, and we have visited WDW both with and without kids. We recently visited again, spending an entire week there at a Disney hotel. We still take Kim Wright Wiley's book, because so much of the good advice applies no matter how many kids are in your party (even zero). For example, all the information about where to stay is an essential first step in planning a trip. And Wiley is right about planning most of your meals ahead of time. We made priority seating reservations and often noticed that those who came up to the podium without reservations were turned away or offered a 2-hour-plus wait. Her observations about which restaurants are best for kids, and those best without kids, are right on. It's also valuable to have all her latest information about new attractions, such as Expedition Everest, which we hadn't seen before this trip. You must get this book before you go to WDW!
Great book with humor and practical advice August 3, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have been a fan of the Walt Disney World With Kids series for several years. We have three children and visit Disney World regularly, so I've been in the parks with everything from newborns to teenagers. I have always found the advice in the book to be accurate and practical - it's clear the author has children herself and is speaking with plenty of "real world" experience. In contrast to the other Disney books on the market, I find this guide to be the most realistic in terms of how much you can actually expect to see and do when traveling with children. The comparisons of Disney hotels are especially helpful (we've tried several over the years and have found the book's descriptions to be right on the money) as are the "scare factor" ratings for various attractions. All in all, this is a travel guide that is definitely worth the money!
