Great overview August 29, 2008 I found this book to be a great overview of the Disney Cruise Line. Not quite as detailed as another Disney Cruise Line book I purchased, but a nice book to have non-the less.
Rather Disapointed April 11, 2008 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
I am entertaining the idea of taking wife and kids on the disney cruise next year so I got this book to get some info on the cruise and such. It basically is Disney advertisement. Dont get me wrong it has lots to look at and enjoy i was just hoping for more details instead. Worth looking at to get excited about doing the cruise but disapointing if you want more details
No Useful Information January 24, 2008 There are no "insider" tips or anything in this book. It's pretty much a watered down version of Disney's own travel brochures. Complete waste of money.
Basically a brochure for the cruise January 17, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Nothing critical here. Basically tells you about the cruise. I was looking for recommendations and such, this thing is basically the "official" guide to the cruise. Don't buy it. Everything I learned on this I found on some good web sites about the cruise. Buy the passporter guide book.
All the basics - but just barely January 13, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This guide covers all of the basics of DCL, but the lack of depth was surprising. Specifically, there wasn't even mention that DCL's ships frequently use alternate itineraries and sometimes leave the caribbean altogether. I was stunned at the lack deck plans. Considering their exclusive access, the "hot tips" found throughout the book were items mostly available of DCL's own website, and in fact this was true of at least 90% of the information in the book. This has resulted in a guide that leaves the reader without any critical or comparative value -- basically a great big ad for DCL. Don't misunderstand -- I love DCL, but this guide loves it a little TOO much.
On the positive side, the full color photos and inclusion of characters is great for getting our kids excited about an upcoming trip.
Additionally, the information concerning shore excursions was more in depth than the rest of the guide, and did include the editors opinions of the excursions. The discussions of the ports of call in general, however, were sadly no better than the rest of the guide.
