Are they paid by Disney? February 27, 2003 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you are hoping for a realistic view of Disney and the surrounding properties then this is not the book for you. If you are totally bought into the Disney scene and this is your 10th trip, then buy this book.I was looking for a book that would help me plan a first time trip to Disney. While this book offers several good tools to help plan and budget, it offers little advice about what really happens - lines, crowds, what to do when things go wrong. For example, how do you decide between an onsite property and a Disney property? Don't look in this book. Its advice is meager and mostly platitudes. Some of the "value add" the book claims such as its web site are dated. Of the web site pages that I viewed, some of the newest "tips" are several years old, and the format is awful. It's more marketing than substance. When reading the book, it feels like the writers are too caught up in the Disney mentality to see reality for the rest of the world. How about a book for people who are only going to vacation at Disney once or twice in a lifetime, not every year?
Best Trip Planner - Don't start planning 'till you get one February 26, 2003 If you've never been to Disney World before, you really don't know what you're in for. This planner covers just about everything, and you really can't start planning too far ahead of time. I got about 6 books on WDW for 2002, and this one was far and away the best of them all. Some of the reservations you'll want to make start 120 days, or more, ahead of time. So, get the current copy of this planner as soon as it's available for the Trip Of A Lifetime. This has all of the phone numbers and contacts you'll need. It has maps and charts and all kinds of recomendations. And then there's the 'insider information' that really helps you get the most out of what can be a costly little trip. Discounts, offers and coupons in the book with the cost saver's tips can really help you save money, but you have to know about all this ahead of time. If you're planning a trip early in the year, get the last year's book, it'll help more than you can immagine.

Must-have for WDW travelers October 8, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was the ONLY book I used in my Disney World vacation planning. It's not the only one I bought, but once this one arrived the others were forgotten. It has everything you need to know to plan your trip. I especially like the worksheets for planning (making dining reservations, budgeting, etc.), the pockets for putting itineraries, etc., and the list of useful phone numbers at the back. The book is designed for you to customize, with lots of pages to write in your own notes and memories. The authors are clearly experts, and offer balanced reviews of rides, restaurants, hotels, etc. They even tell you their biases (who likes spinning rides, or seafood, etc.), and their daughter provides her own tips for kids. You can't find a better tool for planning your Walt Disney World vacation.
