Needs work. Poor layout June 28, 2004 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was expecting to get a great book full of even better information. What a surprise when the whole entire book was setup in a very random matter. The authors hunts are random. For example, at the Magic Kingdom, one moment you are in Tomorrowland the next you are in Frontierland and then back again to Tomorrowland only to go back to Adventureland. Many of the listed 'hidden mickeys' are not Mickey's at all! You can find better information online or just by asking the cast who work there at the park.
Great book!!!! June 25, 2004 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this book a couple of months ago and I loved it!! because this book tell you in detail where this hidden Mickey's are, I can't wait to go to Disney world to start searching them. I am really interested in hidden mickeys because I think it is very original of Disney Imagineers to put Mickeys all over the park and it is also fun searching them and now with this book as your guide even better. I entirely recommend you this book if you want to have a Mickey hunt in your next trip to WDW, or just for knowing where are they and surprise your family and friends how expet you are.
Not really hidden Mickeys June 22, 2004 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
Cute format. Cute Book. Now, if only half of them where actual Hidden Mickeys it would be a good book. Ex. The 3 in Spaceship Earth is not a hidden Mickey it is a 3. The imagineers when they create a hidden mickey, they try not to do hidden pieces of of Mickey. They only real piece of Mickey, I can confirm is his shoes at the Great Movie Ride. How do I know this is incorrect? I am a cast member who teaches programs all over the parks. I know what is real and what isn't. Remember, this book is not written by Disney Imagineer, it is written by someone who has visit the parks a bunch of times. This book is not offical.
A new twist on Disney - and fun too July 25, 2003 123 out of 126 found this review helpful
If you think there's nothing to do at Disney World except ride the same old rides and stand in the same old lines then author Steven Barrett has a surprise for you. It seems that all around Disney World there are lots of "hidden" Mickeys. From classic front profiles to side profiles they are everywhere. For example, one of the ones you would never suspect is the shadow cast on the ground from the railing in front of Cinderellas's castle. Hidden in maps, shadows, well placed stones, or even table settings, once you get the hang of it you are sure to find lots of them. Some of the ones in the book are a bit of a stretch and others are obvious once you know it. Once you start looking for them you wonder why you've never noticed things the place setting in the Haunted Mansion that makes a classic Mickey with the dinner dish and two side dishes for ears. I even found a couple that were pretty easy to spot but not in the book (like a key against the wall in Mickey's House). Not only is the book a great guide on finding the hidden Mickeys but if you follow the suggested itinerary it really minimizes the wait times in line. Mr. Barrett has done an excellent job of suggesting how to go from ride to ride and the book is well worth the price just for that information. We waited only 20 minutes in the longest line and generally waited less than ten. In summary, it is a great twist on visiting Disney World, Epcot, MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom and other Disney attractions and a recommended purchase for anyone heading to a Florida Disney location.
Fun for the Whole Family! April 15, 2003 23 out of 25 found this review helpful
If you or your kids love "I Spy," then this book's for you. We just returned from a family vacation to Walt Disney World where we used both the "Hassle-Free Walt Disney World Vacation" and "Hidden Mickeys" books. Both were invaluable to maximizing our enjoyment during our trip. I don't know who had more fun spotting the hidden Mickeys...me, my husband, or our two sons, ages 9 and 11. The competition was on with our 9 year old beating out the rest of us. You can use the book to either go on a hunt using clues to find the Mickeys or take the easy way out and just follow the author's directions. In all, it is an extremely clever and fun book. Definitely worth the buy.
