5 out of 5 stars The Best Book on Nutrition: Life Altering!   September 15, 2008

A friend of mine recommended this book and I can't thank him enough! I have read it cover to cover and so has my husband. We bought 5 copies and have been lending them to friends to read.
My husband and I had already been vegetarians and we knew all the health benefits of this lifestyle. The information confirmed all of our reasons and also convinced us to cut out dairy as well.
The book is well organized and written in a way that can be easily understood. The research is well documented and the graphs and charts are very detailed and informative.
I highly recommend anyone who is interested in their health to read this book!

I am an Asian-American (Japanese specifically), I was born and raised in Hawaii and moved to the California when I was 27 years old. I grew up eating meat and enjoyed that until a few months ago. I have always had high cholesterol (in the 220-240 range) and I thought it was genetic. I was into the low-carb, high protein diet the last few years, probably because it justified eating a lot of meat, which I loved. A few months ago I had some blood work done and I had a total cholesterol of 259, even worse my LDL "bad" cholesterol was 164. About this time a friend at work recommended this book, I ordered it and read it. Took everything with a grain of salt but remembered some studies in the 1970s that the author referred to about Japanese Americans in Hawaii and California having typical health issues that their Japanese counterparts did not. I gave up most of the red meat and dairy in my diet for about three months, ate mostly a vegan diet with some poultry and a little more fish, mostly sushi. After only three months my recent results were total cholesterol of 190, LDL of 104, my doctor went from very concerned and recommending cholesterol reducing drugs to totally unconcerned since my cholestoral was now "normal." It may not be for everyone but I am convinced that this may have prolonged my life to enjoy with my young children.

The China Study is the most significant book on nutrition I have ever read. What a life changing revelation. I have purchased several and given them to friends. I highly recommend The China Study!

THE CHINA STUDY IS JUST SO OUTSTANDING! IT WILL ABSOLUTLEY CHANGE YOUR LIFE! YOU MAY REMEMBER THE MOVIE IN WHICH INDIANA JONES HAD TO CHOOSE, FROM MANY CUPS, THE ONE THAT WAS THE TRUE "HOLY GRAIL". OF COURSE, HE CHOSE WISELY. AS YOU STAND IN YOUR LOCAL BOOK STORE OR LIBRARY TRYING TO CHOOSE FROM HUNDREDS OF BOOKS OFFERING HEALTH AND DIET INFORMATIOM, YOU ALSO WILL HAVE CHOSEN WISELY IF YOU PICK "THE CHINA STUDY". I WOULD ALSO HIGHLY RECOMMEND "THE FOOD REVOLUTION" BY JOHN ROBBINS. YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SET THESE BOOKS DOWN!

Dr. Campbell has brilliantly brought the higher world of nutrition and biology into a most readable format, presenting the most astounding findings. Good nutrition as the foundation for health is now without question, but treating cancer with nutritional therapies?? Let's see where we can go from here!
